‘The Best Tea For Weight Loss’ – Monica May

Tea is one of my most favorite hot beverages, right after coffee.

It’s one of those things that make the winter months liveable, at least for me :)

There’s no wonder why it’s the second most popular drink in the world, right after water:
People have been drinking tea for thousands of years, not only because it tastes good, but also because it’s extremely healthy and beneficial.

In the past, tea has been used to cure illnesses and all kinds of health conditions.
And still, tea is probably the first thing most of us will reach for when sensing a cold coming.

However, when it comes to losing weight and getting fit, is there such thing as tea for fitness?
Can we link tea with losing weight and getting fit?

SPOILER ALERT: Yes we can!

There is a connection between weight loss and tea, and today we are talking all about it.

Plus, I’m going to give you a list of the best tea for weight loss.

In fact, there are some teas that can actually help you speed up the process of losing weight and getting fit, mainly by speeding up your metabolism and making you healthier overall.

Let’s jump right into them!

Best Tea For Weight Loss

Teas are healthy and beneficial for our health, in general.

However, there are certain teas that are linked to weight loss, and we’re outlining them right now!

#1 Green Tea

The first one on our ‘best tea for weight loss’ list is the most popular well-known type of tea – the green tea.

Green tea is known for providing many health benefits.

It’s rich in flavonoids and caffeine, which both can help elevate metabolic rate, increase fat oxidation and even improve insulin activity.

Due to the caffeine in it, it’s an amazing energy booster too.
On my ‘lazy days’ I have a cup of green tea 30-40 minutes prior to my training session and it gives me that burst of energy to go through my workout energized and alert.

Green tea is also rich in a type of polyphenols called catechins. These substances have also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties.

It’s pretty popular when it comes to obesity since it’s proven to decrease both weight and body fat.

Linked to metabolic boost, green tea is shown to help you improve your health, and promote losing weight.

So, whether it’s the regular green tea or the popular highly concentrated (green tea extract) powdered matcha green tea – include it in your daily diet to improve your health and fitness in general.

One thing I love about green tea is that you can prepare it with cold water too, which is amazing throughout the summer.

I usually combine it with freshly squeezed lemon juice. It tastes much better that way.

#2 Ginger Tea

This is my most favorite tea of all time – ginger tea.

I drink it almost every day, especially in the winter months, and it has helped me overcome most of my colds.

Ginger is a common food and it’s also used medicine around the world.
Also, the ginger plant is rich in natural chemicals that can promote your health and wellness.

First of all, ginger tea has anti-inflammatory benefits, which makes it one of the best drinks for after a workout.
I personally find it pretty useful when it comes to dealing with muscle soreness – it helps me relax and overcome the soreness faster.

Another benefit of ginger tea is easing digestion and promoting healthy sweating.

It also helps you feel fuller longer, which is an amazing benefit when it comes to losing belly fat and getting fit overall.

Not to mention the fact that ginger helps you stay hydrated, which is very important for supporting every aspect of your health.

I also use it as my number one remedy when it comes to flu season.

Here’s a recipe for how I prepare my ginger tea.

#3 Rose Tea

The rose tea is one of the oldest flavoring teas.

It’s a herbal made by mixing fresh roses and the bud of the tea.

One of the main benefits that rose tea provides is boosting digestion and prevents constipation.

Therefore, it’s linked to speeding up metabolism and weight loss.

Other than that, rose tea has a major therapeutic effect on the human body.
It contains vitamins A, B3, C, D and E and is known to act against infections.

Also, drinking it on a daily basis helps in removing toxins.

#4 Oolong Tea

Next on the top of the list of best tea for weight loss is Oolong tea.

Oolong tea is proven to have properties that can lower lipid and fight obesity.

It’s known to act by accelerating metabolism, improving fat mobilization, preventing fat cell proliferation, and helping to maintain weight loss.

Oolong tea also helps to build immunity as it’s loaded with more antioxidants than the green tea.

Promotes fat burn, and helps reducing cholesterol, only a cup of Oolong tea per day would be a perfect complement to a healthy diet.

#5 Peppermint Tea

And lastly, we have to outline the peppermint tea.

This strong mint is proven to control appetite.

It also calms down your gastrointestinal tract and supports the digestive system.

The two main ways to reduce body weight are: increase energy expenditure (EE) and inhibit the absorption of nutrients, including fat and carbohydrates.

OOLONG TEA AND WEIGHT LOSS – Teas Etc

Also, caffeine is a stimulant so it is widely accepted that the caffeine in tea increases metabolism, hence increasing EE.

Also, I have to mention rooibos tea and black tea.

They both have amazing health benefits and boost metabolism.

The Key To Losing Weight & Getting Fit…

Despite the many benefits that these teas provide, you have to know that the key to losing weight and getting fit is still a well-balanced diet and physical activity.

The fact is that you can’t lose weight or get fit just by drinking tea since the only way to do that is through proper nutrition and regular workout.

Yes, using your favorite tea for fitness can be complementary to dieting and working out, but never a substitute.

So, make sure to start following a well-balanced meal plan, and a workout program to go with your tea, and you can use these teas in addition to these two primary things.

A Word About Detox Tea

Ever heard of Fit Tea? Or does Skinny Tea rings a bell?

I bet you’ve stumbled upon one of the most popular “fitness” or “detox” tea blends that promise amazing results just by using their tea.

Well, the people standing behind the marketing or these teas are genius: Get a hot girl with couple hundred thousand followers on IG, have them hold the tea and claim that they use it to look like that.

However, these teas have never helped anyone lose weight.

In my article How To Lose Money Vs. How To Lose Weight I talk all about these teas that claim to help you lose weight by only using them, but that’s far from the truth.

These tea blends usually contain laxative herbs which make you visit the bathroom more often and in some cases give you diarrhea and stomach cramps.

Apparently, by consuming these kinds of teas you will lose some weight due to the frequent bathroom visits, plus you will “flush” the excess salt out by releasing the retained water.
Not to mention feeling fuller in general, since obviously you are drinking more liquid and it fills up your stomach.

And that’s all fine, except you can get all of that by drinking any other tea or water regularly.

In one study published, I read that these teas can trigger hunger and cause weight gain.

You don’t need to throw away your money on fit and skinny detox teas that cost a monthly supply of food.

Instead, start drinking your favorite tea and start sipping up on a daily basis.
It’s going to do the same thing (more or less) while costing a fraction.

Well, girls, I hope I answered at least some of your tea-related questions.
Till next time!
