A brand new year is on the way, babes!

It’s the perfect chance to get the fresh new start working on a better self.

You know all those things you always wanted to do? Well, this is the perfect time to do them.

As the new year swings in, the feels of making a change are inevitable.

Let’s make this year the best one yet! And I know you might be sick of “New Year’s Resolutions” because they always end up in the back of the drawer.

However, I suggest this time a different strategy: Instead of setting resolutions, let’s set up intentions.

We’re not calling it a resolution, we’re calling it a plan. A plan for a new you this New Year.

I’m going to give you 12 things you can do this year to make the most out of it and achieve any fitness, health and body goal.

Don’t live the same year over and over again and call it life… Make that change this time!

Get each and every single one of those goals happen!

Let’s get in shape this year, babes! We’re starting right now!

1. Plan

Everything starts with a good plan. And, you can achieve almost anything if you make a plan out of it.

I know the holidays are stressing every single one of us out.

Especially December – it gets away so freaking fast and I never get the time to think about the past year and everything that’s been hard for me.

That’s because December isn’t the time to think about that actually – January is.

After the holiday spirit starts setting off, start making a plan.

In fact, I suggest you dedicate your whole first month of the year on planning.

You can start by reviewing the past year and the things that were working for you and those you were having a hard time with.

Then head on to the things that are important to you and you want to achieve this year to come.

Make sure to set all of your goals on paper and make a plan how to get there.

Planning is probably the most important thing when it comes to anything in life. By making a detailed plan you make sure to get ready for what’s coming, making sure you are prepared.

Following those steps will help you achieve those goals faster and better.

So, babes, sit down grab a pen and paper and start planning right now! You have a whole month to plan your way to getting in shape, so do it!

People don’t plan to fail they just fail to plan. But, not us. Not this time!

If you are not sure how to do that, my Fit Babe Fitness Planner will help you. Grab your copy and start planning right now.

2. Take Baby Steps

It’s not “go big or go home” when it comes to getting healthier.

This journey is all about making small changes each day, so they add up to big, long-term results.

So, start with baby steps, making small changes on daily basis.

For example, start following a morning routine, start doing yoga every now and then, make sure to learn new things about healthy food, start following fitness blogs and IG accounts, make sure you minimize junk food, start jogging…

Start small with anything that works for you best.

3. Eat Healthy

If someone asks me what is the single best thing they can do to get lose weight or get in shape, no doubt I’d say – Start eating healthy.

That’s why this next month you should start working on making the best out of your nutrition as possible.

Proper nutrition is the key to a happier balanced life, a stronger body, and better health.

However, please don’t make that mistake of starting a certain diet you run onto because you certainly don’t need a strict diet to get in shape.

You just need to start eating healthy.

And since nowadays we don’t know what’s healthy and what’s not anymore (because of the plenty of misleading info out there), I made it all easy with my meal plan, Burn Baby Burn.

Burn Baby Burn is a 4-week diet plan that I packed for any fierce babe out there that wants to jumpstart weight loss and get healthy and fit through nutrition.

Eating healthy is the single best thing you can do for yourself and your body, so make that step this time and start eating healthy already.

4. Sweat

The beginning of the new year is the best time to start a workout program or just start moving.

Starting from hot yoga, running, weight lifting or my personal favorite HIIT.

Only 20-30 minutes a day for starters, and as time goes by you’ll find your own way and find your kind of training that works best for you.

For me, the biggest impact on both losing weight and tone some muscles, made a HIIT workout, with high-intensity exercises, Tabata, explosive movements and lots of heavyweights.

Nowadays we know that it’s not all about the time you spend working out, but the intensity and effort you give during it.

That’s why my workout routine takes only 30 minutes of my day, but trust me after those 30 minutes I feel like I can’t do a single rep more.

Just find a workout program and start following it.

You can also check out my 28-Day Workout Program to start getting fit in the comfort of your own home.

5. Motivation

Motivation is everything in life!

Not only motivation is crucial when it comes to losing weight and getting fit, but it’s an essential part of keeping up with anything in life.

If you’re motivated enough you’ll do it, if not you’ll find an excuse.

So, spend time to motivate yourself daily, always find a way to boost that inspo through the roof and you’ll achieve any goal you have.

One of my favorite ways to get motivated is through fitness motivational posters.

They help me remember why this is important to me and why I should keep pushing every single day.

And I have plenty of posters on my blog, here’re just a few of them:

I also have a high res collection of fitness inspired posters on Etsy, so if you’re looking for a cheesy and catchy quote, to print out and hang on your wall, head on to check them out!

What you can do to keep yourself motivated all the time is follow a bunch of fitness influencers and inspo feeds on IG.

They always post inspiring content to their feeds and will make sure to keep you inspired AF.

If you’re not following @fit_girls_diary_ on IG make sure to do it asap :)

6. Healthy Habits

Aside from eating healthy and working out daily, there are a bunch of healthy habits you can include in your everyday life to keep yourself balanced, healthy and fit.

And since we’re all about baby steps, here are some of the habits you can work on improving this year:

  • Start the day with a glass of water
  • Do a stretching routine
  • Have a quality sleep, 7-8 hrs
  • Have healthy snacks
  • Learn to read food labels
  • Walk to work
  • Eat more greens

Maybe do a list of healthy habits in your planner and start checking them off daily.

Habit by habit, day by day, you’ll get healthier and fitter.

7. Minimize Sugars and Bad Carbs

It’s not only eating healthy that matters, but avoiding bad foods too.

And by bad foods I mean sugars and processed carbs which are the main cause we’re gaining weight in the first place.

They’re toxic to our body, addictive and contain fast energy with no nutrients at all.

We don’t need them, in fact we could live just fine without them.

Not only sugars as anything that’s sweet, chocolate, donuts, cakes…

But also bad carbs such as french fries, white pasta, white bread, dressings, sweeteners, and almost anything that’s highly processed, far away from its natural state.

Minimize their intake this year and you’ll get healthier in no time.

8. Cook

One of the most important things when it comes to healthy food is cooking your food right.

How you cook your food will often determine if that food is healthy or not. Not to mention, healthy food can get a bit boring if you keep eating the same foods each day.

So this year I challenge you to try out new recipes and work on improving a few cooking skills and cooking habits.

In my nutrition guide The Hungry Fit Girl, I’ve dedicated a whole chapter about cooking. You can find everything you need to know there about cooking your foods right and making the most out of every meal.

Here are some insights for you:

  • Bake instead of frying,
  • Start using healthier oils – avoid sunflower seeds oil or palm oil, and use only extra virgin olive oil,
  • Use healthier salt – kick out the table salt out of the table, and start using Himalayan salt instead, it’s much healthier…

Also, meal prepping is a great skill too, so head on to my meal prepping guide asap!

9. Hydrate

Water is a crucial part of a healthy and balanced life.

Especially throughout the summer months, when hydration is a #1.

That’s why is really important to add the focus on hydration and make a “sipping” habit you’ll follow throughout the whole year.

In my fitness planner, there’s a paragraph to help you track your daily water intake and make sure you’re well hydrated all the time.

We are all different and not everybody needs the same amount of water. However, making water a habit is a great game changer.

  • A glass of hot water in the morning helps digestion, improves your circulation and speeds up metabolism.
  • A glass of water, half an hour before a meal will help you keep balanced and healthy gut and avoid overeating.
  • 8 glasses of water a day will improve your health in general.

10. Learn

Learn a new thing about health and fitness daily. Get new ideas of what’s healthy what’s not, read nutrition tips, find out about new healthy foods and grab every single piece of advice you can have.

People often make mistakes with things they don’t know or are not sure about. How are you supposed to avoid something when you don’t how it affects your health, right?

So, learning and following different kinds of nutrition guides will help you upgrade your knowledge to become fit ad healthy for life.

To help you learn everything you need to know about healthy food, I made my Nutrition Guide, The Hungry Fit Girl.

You’ll get every single detail and become your own nutrition expert.

11. Make It A Part Of You

Not only dress, act, think and eat like a healthy and fit person, but surround ourselves with people who support us and makes us want to be better.

So, spread the word around you and have a friend or two working out and eating healthy with you.

Even better – convince your family to try and incorporate some of your healthy habits in their lives.

Let them all know you as the girl who eats healthy and takes care of herself.

It’s not about a certain weight goal anymore, it’s about staying healthy, balanced and fit for life.

Be the spark of motivation for others and you’ll get one step closer to achieving almost any goal in your life.

12. Treat Yourself

If you start working on a better you, you’ll be worked so damn hard. Heading onto a fitness journey is a real challenge, and you deserve to treat yourself every now and then.

Rather it’s new workout clothes, a pair of trainers or a set of new workout equipment, a yoga mat, meal prep equipment…

Whatever feels like a real treat – do that! You deserved it for sticking to the plan and making sure you stay on track whole year long.

So, give yourself credit for how hard you’re trying, but make sure to keep your goals and habits in sight.
